Arts & Heritage Award

Most of your favourite arts and heritage events and venues rely on volunteers, to do roles such as helping in museums, providing support backstage at performances, as well as facilitating community arts, drama and music. A host of inspirational volunteers take up these roles and enjoy the opportunity to get their creative juices flowing!

Main Award – Sally Evans

This year’s worth awardee in this category was Sally Evans from Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Company.  Below is a great picture of her receiving her Award from Mayor of Dudley, Cllr Mohammed Hanif and Mike Abrahams, Chair of Dudley CVS:

Sally Evans

Nomination Film

Here’s just why the Panel felt she was a worthy recipient for this Award

This is what her nominator told us about her:

Sally started with our company as a child in the chorus of our pantomimes, progressed to being a dancer and played the part of Prince Charming in our panto production of Cinderella seven years ago.

When we needed a choreographer for our next panto, I started by asking Sally if she would choreograph one dance routine in the panto. (I knew if I asked her to do it all, she would not have enough confidence.) When Sally had done this, I asked her to do another one and so on, for this production. She shared the role of choreographer with another girl called Lucy.

For our next production Sally choreographed the whole panto, (20 songs/dances) on her own, then when we formed our Youth Group, Sally choreographed these too, attending rehearsals up to 4 times a week for up to 6 hours per session.  Sally has worked with our young people from the age of 7 to our more mature members, 65+.

Sally has used her talent as a choreographer to ensure that everyone in the productions, regardless of age or ability, are able to take party. She gives up her time freely to work with our young people, encouraging them and helping them with their dance routines. Sally works many hours at home to prepare dances ready for rehearsals. Sally even choreographer our panto last year whilst expecting her first baby!

Sally is a very special young lady with a wonderful talent that she shares with us all. She never lets us down and has helped over a hundred children and adults.
